QuoData at EuroSun2026 in Basel

QuoData is attending the EuroSun2026 conference, taking place on 27–28 May 2026 in Basel, Switzerland.

EuroSun2026 focuses on sunscreen products used both in everyday life and during beach or recreational sun exposure. The conference brings together experts from across the field — including product development, manufacturing, testing, regulation, and scientific communication — to discuss current challenges and advances in sun protection.

It is a key meeting point for professionals working on the science and reliability of sunscreen performance and assessment methods.

Keynote Lecture with QuoData contribution

QuoData scientist Bertrand Colson, together with Jürgen Vollhardt - Personal Care Ingredient and Sun Protection Expert, will give a keynote lecture:

“Evolution and Validation of Sun Protection Assessment Methods. ALT-SPF Consortium”

The presentation is based on a large-scale method comparison study carried out in 2022 and 2023 by the ALT-SPF Consortium. In this study, five alternative sunscreen testing methods were evaluated against the reference methods ISO 24444 and ISO 24443. In total, 32 products across eight product categories were tested.

The talk will summarize the main findings of the ALT-SPF study and discuss their implications in a dialogue between the two speakers. The focus will be on practical and methodological questions such as current challenges in sunscreen testing, differences between results from identical versus alternative methods, and the question of whether a harmonized quality framework can be developed.

In addition, the discussion will explore how the results of the ALT-SPF study may support future statistical approaches in Proficiency Testing.
